A free video downloader
that lives on your phone.

Over a thousand sites, up to 4K, or just the audio as MP3 with the cover art attached. Share a link from any app and the download starts on its own — no ads anywhere, no account, nothing to pay for later.

Free · Android 8.0+ · Open source (GPL-3.0) · No ads

Everything the free ones make you pay for

No banner at the bottom, no countdown before a download, no "go Pro" halfway through.

Share a link, that's it

Hit Share in YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or anywhere else and pick Riplox. Nothing to copy, nothing to paste — the download starts by itself.

A thousand-plus sites

YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and everything else yt-dlp reaches. One app instead of one per site.

4K, or just the audio

Pick the exact format and size before it starts — MP4, MKV or WEBM. Audio comes out as MP3, M4A, OPUS, WAV or FLAC, with the cover art already attached.

Keeps going without you

The queue survives closing the app and even a reboot, retrying on its own with a growing gap between tries. Each finished file arrives as a notification.

Secret Vault

Storage behind your fingerprint or a PIN. What goes in disappears from your gallery, from the app's history and from backups.

History you can search

Filter, multi-select, and a Trash that holds things back before they go. Export your links to a file — password-protected if you want — and load them back later.

Free, and it stays free

Worth being specific about, because that word is used loosely.

Most free video downloader apps are free in the sense that installing costs nothing. Then there is a banner across the bottom, a full-screen advert between you and the file, a daily limit, and a Pro tier that removes what should not have been there.

Riplox has none of that. No adverts anywhere in the app, no download cap, no daily quota, no trial that runs out, no account to create and no paid tier that exists somewhere out of sight. There is one version and you already have it.

It is open source under GPL-3.0, which is what makes that a fact rather than a promise: the code is published, anyone can read what it does and what it sends, and the licence means it cannot quietly be taken closed later.

What you need

Android 8.0 or newer. Nothing else — no sign-in, no Google account, no permission beyond storing what you asked it to save.

Why an APK instead of the Play Store

Google Play does not allow apps that download from YouTube, so this is not there and will not be. It comes as an APK from GitHub instead, and every release publishes a SHA-256 checksum so you can confirm the file is the one we built. Android asks you to allow installing from this source the first time; that applies to this install and nothing else.

Signing in, only when it matters

Public videos need no sign-in at all. For a private, age-restricted or guest-blocked video, you can sign in on the real site inside a normal web view — your password never passes through the app, and it only ever reaches what your own account can already open.

Want it on the computer instead?

Riplox Desktop does the same job on Windows, and adds something this app cannot: share a link to it from your phone and the PC downloads it even if the PC was switched off when you sent it. For a single site done properly there is also Riplox TT for TikTok and Riplox IG for Instagram.

Questions people ask first

Is it free, and are there ads?

Free, with no ads anywhere in it, no paid tier, no trial and no account to create. It is open source under GPL-3.0, so anyone can read exactly what it does, and nobody can take it closed.

Why is it an APK instead of a Play Store app?

Google Play does not allow apps that download from YouTube, so this is distributed as an APK from GitHub. Every release publishes a SHA-256 checksum so you can confirm the file is the one we built. Android will ask you to allow installing from this source the first time, and that permission applies to this install only.

Which sites does it work with?

Over a thousand — YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and everything else the yt-dlp project supports. If a site changes and a download breaks, updating the app is what fixes it.

Does the download stop if I close the app?

No. The queue survives closing the app and even a reboot, and retries by itself with a growing gap between attempts. You get a notification as each file lands.

What is the Secret Vault?

Storage locked behind your fingerprint or a PIN. Files moved into it disappear from your gallery, from the app's own history and from backups. It is meant for things you would rather not have appear while someone is scrolling your photos.

Does signing in give the app my password?

No. Signing in happens on the real site inside a normal web view, so your password never passes through the app. It only matters for private, age-restricted or guest-blocked videos that your own account can already see.

Can it download to my PC instead?

That is a different app in the same family. Riplox Desktop runs on Windows, and you can share a link to it from your phone — it downloads on the PC even if the PC was switched off when you sent it.
